Obesity is a medical condition caused by an excessive amount of fat in the body. Many methods are used to determine obesity. The Body Mass Index (BMI) stands as one of the most commonly utilized methods.
Obesity can be associated with many medical conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, arthritis, etc.
Diet and exercise have been recommended for patients over the years with minimal effectiveness. Adding medication can improve your chances of losing weight. Based on your BMI and lab work ordered by your provider, you can be diagnosed with obesity and receive treatment to help improve your outcome.

1) Your provider will complete your medical history, including obesity-associated conditions like hypertension, diabetes, diet, exercise, and weight loss history.
2) A physical will be completed, including a blood pressure check, and BMI among others.
3) Labs will be ordered.
4) Weight loss management treatment plan will be initiated.
5) For BMI 30 and above, medication will be ordered alongside diet and exercise.
6) Medication therapy can be ordered for BMI 27 and above if you have any obesity-associated medical condition.
7) With the return of your lab work, other obesity-associated treatments can be included in your care plan, such as vit D, B12.
